Description

Incl. luggage transport.

This tour varies from flat to hilly fjord terrain. You’ll visit Rosendal, famous for its Barony, a beautiful historic manor and estate. You’ll pass through the village Skånevik, well-known for its Blues Festival and the idyllic trading station of Bekkjarvik.

The trip begins with the expressboat Hardangerfjordekspressen from Bergen to Rosendal, then You cycle along the Hardangerfjord to Husnes and on to Utåker. The ferry takes you over to the lovely village of Skånevik. For those who wish to cycle more, there is a nice detour from Skånevik to Etne and back, before the expressboat takes you  on to Stord. From Stord you cycle to Fitjar and get the ferry from Sandvikvåg to Husavik. There's just a short distance from Husavik to the old merchant centre of Bekkjarvik, where tasty local cooking and comfortable beds awaits you. In Austevoll you can take extra trips across the bridge to the islands of Stolmen, Hundvåkøy and Store Kalsøy, before you get the expressboat back to Bergen.

We recommend you stay an extra night in either Rosendal or Skånevik, since both places have so much interesting to offer (this will be extra).

Day by day program

Day 1: The Hardangerfjord express from Bergen to Rosendal in the afternoon, where you spend the night. (depart 16.30, arr. 18.25)
Day 2: We recommend a trip around Rosendal and maybe a visit to the barony, which is the smallest castle in Scandinavia and the only one in Norway. You should also visit the Stone Park, where they display rocks from the Folgefonna Glacier National Park.
Cycle via Uskedalen and Husnes to the ferry quay of Utåker – 50 km. The stage runs along roads with some traffic, through lush farming country, with lovely views of the Hardangerfjord, to the islands of Tysnes, Stord and Halsnøy. From Utåker you get the ferry to Skånevik, with plenty of nice spots for swimming and a town centre that invites you for a short stroll. You spend the night in Skånevik.
Day 3: We recommend you cycle a detour from Skånevikstranda to Etne and back, a total of 52 km. Get the express boat to Leirvik in the afternoon. Leirvik is the town on the island of Stord, with a nice town centre and harbour. You spend the night in Leirvik.
Day 4: This is the longest stage of the trip, from Leirvik via Fitjar to Sandvikvåg, 39 km, then the ferry to Husavik and 5 km cycling to Bekkjarvik. This stage follows the signposting of the North Sea Route, that run from Egersund to Bergen (signposting only to Sandvikvåg). There is some uphill from Leirvik to Sagvåg, then easy cycling through lush cultural landscape. Bekkjarvik is an idyllic old merchant centre with a lovely harbour for those who travel by boat, and a small centre with shops and exhibitions of old boat from the 1800s up until now. In the Gallery Bekkjarvik you can find known artists within oil painting, aquarelles, prints and sculptures. You spend the night in Bekkjarvik.
Day 5: We recommend spending some time in Austevoll. From Bekkjarvik you can make a detour and then cycle on to the island of Selbjørn, over the bridge to the island of Stolmen, and then north to Storebø on the RV 546 on the west side of Huftarøy. From Hufthamer you can make another detour across the bridge at Austevollsbrua to Hundvåkøy and all the way out to the island of Store Kalsøy, then you can cycle the same way back to Hufthamar.
The shortest route from Bekkjarvik to Hufthamar - 20 km.

Express boat from Hufthamar to Bergen, depart 17.40, arr. Bergen 18.40.
Delivering of rental bikes Saturday.

Possible for extra nights in Bergen before and after the tour.
