In 1658, Norway's richest heir married a proud Danish nobleman. Karen Mowat and Ludvig Rosenkrantz were given the farm Hattenberg in Kvinnherad as a wedding present, and this is where they build the small castle that they called Rosendal. The castle was completed in 1665.
A visit to the Barony Rosendal is a walk through the different styles and epoches. Rooms and halls have been decorated by various owners over the course of 250 years, and the castle is preserved as a home as the last owners left it in 1927.
