In 1658, Norway's richest heir married a proud Danish nobleman. Karen Mowat and Ludvig Rosenkrantz were given the farm Hattenberg in Kvinnherad as a wedding present, and this is where they build the small castle that they called Rosendal. The castle was completed in 1665.
